Cucumber and gherkins in North Vietnam
There are two crops of cucumber and gherkins in North Vietnam, one in winter (from November to January) and the other in spring (from March to May). The ideal condition of temperature for cucumber growing is around 20-25 degrees C.
The largest areas of cucumber and gherkins cultivation in Vietnam are Hanam, Hung Yen, Bac Giang with total quantity harvested annually 100,000 tons.
Cucumber and gherkins in Vietnam usually are processed into two types of products: salted, pickled. These products are mostly packed in drums, aseptic bags, tin cans or glass jars.
The main markets of export for Vietnamese enterprises are the traditional partners from Russia, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Lithuania, Mongolia, Czech and the other new ones come from Japan, United States.
